Camel CLI - Container Image

The Camel CLI is available as a container image on Docker Hub, with camel as its entrypoint. Use it to run Camel integrations without installing Java, Maven or the Camel CLI on your machine, for example in CI.

All examples use docker. Replace it with podman if you prefer — the commands are identical. The examples use the 4.22.0 release; use the tag of the release you want.

Verify the version

$ docker run apache/camel-jbang:4.22.0 version
Camel CLI version: 4.22.0

Running a route

Mount your route files into the container and run them. For example, given a route in test.yaml (created with camel init test.yaml):

docker run -v .:/integrations apache/camel-jbang:4.22.0 run /integrations/test.yaml

All the options of camel run work the same way, for example a different runtime:

docker run -w /home/ubuntu -v $PWD/test.yaml:/tmp/test.yaml apache/camel-jbang:4.22.0 run /tmp/test.yaml --runtime quarkus

Any other camel command

Any other command of the Camel CLI runs the same way: put it after the image name, such as docker run apache/camel-jbang:4.22.0 catalog component.

Image tags

The image is published with tags for different Camel versions, Java versions and platform architectures. Docker pulls the variant for your platform when a multi-architecture image is available. The available variants change over time; check the tags on Docker Hub before choosing one.
